This is an M4 contact 165°C safety thermostat.
If the boiler exceeds 165°C degrees Celsius, this thermostat will trip, cutting power off from the element. This is done to try to prevent element damage due to overheating.
To reset, just press down on the top
Size: M4x6 screw 4mm wide by 6mm deep
Why replace the safety thermostat? If you have had to reset this a few times, its indicates a thermostat issue - Probably steam thermostat is malfunctioning, so that should be replaced, along with a new safety thermostat.

How to install a contact thermostat in a coffee machine
- Turn off the coffee machine and unplug it from the socket.
- Open the lid to get access to the boiler.
- Remove the wires from the thermostat
- Unscrew the old thermostat, anticlockwise from the boiler.
- Clean the area of any old thermal paste.
- Add the thermal paste to the base of the thermostat - (not the threads ).💡 Hand tighten only - ⚠️Never use a spanner as the soft brass threaded shaft will snap off.
- Screw in the new thermostat and insert the wires.
- You are good to go!
