A native of the Jura and born in Montigny-les-Arsures, Jérôme Arnoux’s formative winemaking experience was ten years working at Stéphane Tissot in Arbois. Jérôme’s vineyards are farmed organically and biodynamically using natural yeasts and strict adherence to minimal intervention approaches to winemaking. Arnoux’s cellar dating back to the 1400s is the oldest in Arbois & marvel to visit. Neutrality always at the forefront in his approach – the cellar is filled with very old oak. Arguably formerly an apprentice – Jérôme is now front & centre in the natural wine movement in the Jura.
From the low yielding but outstanding 2019 vintage. This is mouth watering & delicate Pinot Noir at a fraction of the price of comparable quality offerings from neighbouring Burgundy. Grown on a mix of limestone & clay soils with a cool exposition. Raised in old wood. It's a delicate & elegant expression but certainly not lacking any stuffing - excellent cellaring potential here but delicious now.
